Easter Sunday
Monday, April 13th, 2009Easter Day in 2009 was not one might call the perfect day. That is in regards to the weather. I woke up to see that the sky was cloudy and it was raining.
Yet somehow I felt peaceful inside. I call my mother, father and brother on the phone and wished them “Christos a inviat” at which they replied “Adevarat ca a inviat”. I have also found out from my mother, that the Orthodox Easter is not until next weekend…
After walking Teika to Gasworks and getting wet on the way, Rory and I arrived at his parents for an early dinner with his family.
I was excited to see Carol’s flowers (as always) in the yard and decided to use this rainy, not-so-perfect-day for some macro shots of flowers.

And inside, the family was keeping warm with stories, great food, drinks, laughter, golf and good times.

And even the pets were having and relaxing on this slow paced day.

Of course at times, the pets were quite an entertainment especially as Rory tried to make Sunny look like an Easter bunny:
And Ron became quite the artist. Here are three of his drawings with remarkable resemblance of Sunny and Chester.

Ah yes, Easter Sunday, was a nice and relaxing day that even hummingbirds came by the window:

Happy Easter to everyone!

Merry Christmas!
Thursday, December 25th, 2008Today, Rory and I braced the snow and went over to his sister’s place in Ravensdale. The driver there was decent until we got closer to where they live. The roads were full of snow and though we were driving on it just fine, the snow was coming down. This year, Christmas was very white.
Once we got there, it was cool to see the amount of snow they had. Not only that, but the icicles were plenty and big:
Courtney’s horses were outside but well covered. Though they might not have liked being in the snow, they sure looked pretty:
A favorite toy for the boys was Tim’s snowmobile. As soon as he brought that out, we lost Rory and his brother Trevor. They had a blast driving the snowmobile in the great, white, snow.

The best part of the Christmas for me was the cute little boy cat that Courtney had. His name is “Booger”. It may not be a cute name for such a cute cat, but he was sick for a very long time thus the name is pretty appropriate. Needless to say, I feel in love with this cat. his eyes were an amazing, crystal blue and he was just gorgeous! Here are a few of my favorite photos of him:
Coming home on I-520, the sky was burning fire. I didn’t have the right lens on the camera, but I could not help taking a few shots:
Happy Holidays everyone!
Kent’s Holiday Party
Friday, December 19th, 2008Last night, Rory and I went to a holiday party. As it snowed a lot in Seattle yesterday, we decided to walk to Queen Anne instead of drive. That was a great choice considering that it was a little less than 2 miles and Queen Anne is a very hilly area.
We walked with a co-worker and encountered lots of snow and some nice lights along the way:
Once we reached the party, there were some nice holiday stars on the porch. The hostess also welcomed us with great food and desserts:

On the way back from the party, we crossed the Aurora Bridge and saw a spectacular view:
And finally, in our neighborhood we saw a great snowman built perfectly round and other Christmas decorations:
And with the night upon us, we finally ended our 8 mile walk day, and went home to sleep.
Holiday Party
Saturday, December 13th, 2008Last night, Rory and I attended my work’s Holiday Party. It was held at the Space Needle. We had a relaxing time getting there and for the first time, I did not bring my camera. Though I would have loved to have the camera with me as always, it was nice to just enjoy the event.
But of course, we did get our pictures when we entered the event, so at least we have the moment captured.
Thanksgiving Dinner
Friday, November 28th, 2008It was the first time Rory and I hosted a dinner with both our parents, his siblings and significant others at our Wallingford house. But thanks to the help of everyone, it turned out great!
On yesterday’s Thanksgiving Preparations post, I left off mentioning the great help Rory’s parents have been. The dinner happened because of Carol as she helped us cook the Turkey, make the gravy and stuffing and just about everything else.
And the turkey turned great:
Carol also brought us fresh flowers from her garden:
Before dinner, everyone relaxed, talked together and enjoyed football.
It has been a long time since my parents have been with Rory’s and so it was nice that they had some time to chat:
Below mom is holding a most incredible plan Carol put in the bouquet of flowers. I forgot it’s name so if she sees this blog and makes a comment then I’ll know.
When dinner stared, the tables were filled with good food, great people and everyone was having a great time.
Here are Ron and Carol:
Rory’s brother Trevor and Crystal:
Rory’s sister Courtney and Tim:
My parents David and Mariana:
After dinner the deserts were many. Red velvet cake done by my mother:
Pudding with cherries done by Courtney. She always does awesome deserts for the Holidays:
Pecan cake also done by Courtney (I think this is one of Rory’s favorites):
And banana and fruit cake done by mother:
Indeed the food was plenty and as usual we over ate.
You know it’s a great event when the kitchen looks like this afterwards:
We are thankful for a great evening with the family.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Preparations
Thursday, November 27th, 2008This year is the first that Rory and I are entertaining our families for Thanksgiving. We did the food shopping, got the turkey, the stuffing and all the other traditional foods. Rory’s parents also brought a lot of the vegetables. I’ll be making a beet salad using the recipe from Food and Wine’s website.
Today is the perfect day for Thanksgiving. The feeling of autumn is in the air but the sun is also shining through. And of course the pumpkins are beautiful:
Teika and Rory just came back from the dog park. She is not exhausted but had a lot of fun:
The decorations are done:
Rory’s parents came by around noon today and have been helping with the meal making. Here’s Ron:
