My baby shower

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Yesterday, Sunday January 24th I had my baby shower. My three great friends, Laurie, Amy and Bianca did a fabulous job on organizing and taking care of everything for the shower from invitations, contacting people, cooking and providing a great place for the event.

There were many girls that showed up at the shower and I am very lucky to have such wonderful friends and I’m deeply honored for their generosity. Here are some photos from the event.

A visit from the Goodwins…

Monday, January 25th, 2010

On Saturday afternoon, we had our friends Andy, Wendy and little Vienna Goodwin visit us. It was the first time that we had a little baby stay with us and the experience was great. Wendy is a great mother and little Vienna was mostly a happy baby. Of course she did not want to go to sleep when it was time to go and instead stayed up with us until 10:30pm. Here are some photos of beautiful Vienna.

Basement Bedrooms

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Over the past week and today, Rory worked really hard to finish the trim, install the doors for the bedrooms and the sliding doors for the closet. Everything is shaping up nicely. I will still have to paint the trim and the doors but we’ve got basement bedrooms!

Trim for the basement rooms

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Today in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. I came home to find Rory had done most of the trim for the two basement rooms we are trying to finish. He also ordered the doors which will come on Wednesday. Now that’s one hard working husband!

Christmas Tree Ride

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Last night, Rory partook in a bicycle ride event that involved hooking up your Christmas tree to the bicycle and riding to Golden Gardens for a bon fire event. Quite a few people took part in this yearly tradition and this year Rory was one of them. On Thursday night, he worked on engineering a solution to carry our 8 foot Christmas tree on the back of his bike. The solution involved him drilling a whole into the tree and attaching a third wheel.

He then rode with Alex and Andrew, stopping in some places.

Here’s a video of their crazy but fun ride.

Until finally they reached the bon fire event.

Rory took all of these shots and one of the most surreal and interesting pictures is the one below. The woman being silhouetted is almost looking at the camera while all the other people are oblivious of the shot being taken. At the same time the sky above is glowing and the fire is dancing behind her.

Another great shot is below showing the skeleton of the tree as it is burning. It is almost a painful picture to look at.
